The area

Maybole, often referred to as the ancient capital of Carrick, is a small market town only 10 minutes from Ayr and 50 minutes from Glasgow.
Maybole Train Station provides links to Ayr, Kilmarnock & Glasgow. Trains also run south to Girvan. Regular bus services are also available. The new Maybole bypass is due to commence in 2019 and it is expected to be completed in 2020 bringing the town closer to Ayr and ensuring excellent commuter links by road and rail. When the new town bypass opens in 2020 it is forecast that the volume of cars travelling through the town centre will drop by 50% and HGVs by up to 95%. A £6m regeneration project is planned for Maybole High Street including the Town Hall and the Castle.
The town has three primary schools: Cairn Primary, Gardenrose Primary and St Cuthberts Primary. The secondary school for Maybole is Carrick Academy. Carrick Academy is also a School of Rugby due to its many successes in the sport.

Maybole is a short distance from the birthplace of Robert Burns, the Scots national poet. Burns' mother was a Maybole resident, Agnes Brown.
